KUALA LUMPUR (April 3): Gamuda Land, the property arm of Gamuda Bhd, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd to equip The Camellia’s show unit with Samsung’s Bespoke AI home appliances. With this, Gamuda Land homebuyers would have the option to integrate their homes with Bespoke AI home appliances.

As part of the bigger Gamuda Cove township development located in Kuala Langat, Selangor, the 25.5-acre The Camellia comprises 174 units of two-storey semi-detached homes and has a gross development value of RM334 million. Units in The Camellia have built-up sizes from 2,600 to 3,055 sq ft with selling prices from RM1.45 million. They were launched recently in February.

In a joint press statement on Wednesday, Gamuda Land CEO Chu Wai Lune said, “Recognising the significance of sustainable living, we are excited to collaborate with Samsung, a renowned leader in the market for sustainable and smart home appliances, to further enhance the eco-friendly infrastructure already in place at Gamuda Cove.

“By integrating AI technology into our smart home systems, we can provide better value to our homeowners. This is facilitated by the fact that Gamuda Cove is a 5G-ready township, which opens up new possibilities and opportunities for smart city planning. It enables us to remotely monitor, manage, and control devices, and to create new insights and actionable information from massive streams of real-time data.”

Samsung's Bespoke AI Home helps streamline household chores and enables them to prioritise personal activities. With AI-driven energy management, personalised recommendations based on user behaviour, and seamless integration.

The Bespoke AI lineup for The Camellia features functions such as AI Energy Mode to optimise energy consumption, AI Wash for tailored laundry cycles, and AI Pro Cooking for remote monitoring of oven-cooked dishes. Continuously learning from users' habits, the statement said Bespoke AI adapts appliance performance to provide customised services that cater to individual preferences and needs.

Representing Samsung Malaysia Electronics, its president Denny Kim said, “At Samsung, we are harnessing the power of AI to unlock new and impactful experiences that make life better and simpler for all. We are pleased to collaborate with Gamuda Land to demonstrate the capabilities of our Bespoke AI appliances to homeowners, enabling them to enjoy the advantages of an intuitive and connected home environment.”

Meanwhile, Chu also said that in envisioning Gamuda Cove, the developer aims to create a township that can stand the test of time.

“At the core of smart cities lies the seamless integration of urban functions like digital infrastructure, mobility, environmental monitoring, safety and security, energy systems, sport and recreation, and waste and sustainability management. This interconnectedness leverages data to enhance services, elevate living standards and promote environmental sustainability.

“With AI, the possibilities are endless. For example, AI can power smart traffic light systems, utilising Internet of Things (IoT) and data from sensors and cameras to optimise traffic signals. This not only reduces commute times but also enhances safety and cuts carbon emissions,” Chu added.

Moving forward, the developer plans to leverage on AI and 5G technology by exploring the integration of 5G-connected smart grids into their townships. This initiative aims to boost energy efficiency, promising a substantial decrease in overall energy consumption for sustainable long-term development.
