Senai

 

Overview

Senai is a town in the Kulai district in the state of Johor, located around 25 kilometres northwest of the Johor Bahru. Senai is also located 4 kilometers south from Kulai and 4 kilometers north of Skudai. The name Senai was derived from the name of a local tree species, the Sinai, which grew abundantly in the region in the early 20th century.

Accessibility and Transportation

Besides the Senai International Airport, Senai also plays host to several major multinational electronic manufacturers. At present, getting to the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Expressway, Johor Causeway and the Port of Tanjung Pelepas from Senai is less than a 45 minute drive away.

Amenities and Facilities

There are no lack of amenities in this town, and among the amenities on offer include local bank branches including Maybank, CIMB, RHB and BSN banks. There are also retail and provision shops as well as hypermarkets such as Econsave. Local public bus transportation services are also available for the residents, plying the routes between Johor Bahru and Senai.

Senai is also part of the Senai-Skudai Flagship Zone E of Iskandar Malaysia where the current economic activities encompass airport services, engineering, electrical and electronics (E&E) as well as education. In the near future, Flagship E is also set to be the hub for agro and food processing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and also retail tourism.
