PETALING JAYA (July 3): The IPC Shopping Centre at Mutiara Damansara has reopened its LG1 and LG2 floors on July 1 as phase one of redevelopment is completed.

The mall embarked on a redevelopment programme on March this year.

“The redevelopment is part of our plan to futureproof the centre,” said IKEA Southeast Asia shopping centre director at Thomas Malmberg in a statement.

“We’re not afraid to make changes to achieve what we believe in: a bigger, brighter and greener future for us and our shoppers,” he said.

LG1 will now be known as Foodland, complete with a new concept and design. It welcomes the return of popular tenants such as Uncle Lim, De Irrfan’s Café, and Noodle Shack.

IPC Shopping Centre will also host new tenants such as AEON Wellness and Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul; and Ben’s Independent Grocer will be opening in October.

Meanwhile, i-Alter and Thule will be making a return to LG2.

Returning tenants, such as Harvey Norman, are looking forward to the changes. “The redevelopment effort has given us the opportunity to launch our new duplex concept,” said Harvey Norman Malaysia lead general manager Eddy Ng.

“We’ve grown with IPC over the years and are excited to be a part of this new direction. We believe that this upgrade will answer the needs of our current and future customers, building towards a fun-filled shopping experience for all,” he added.

Ben’s Independent Grocer managing director David Tseng said the grocery chain consider its presence in IPC Shopping Centre a good way to expand its reach into growing neighbourhoods.

“We pride ourselves on our promise of delivering the finest produce to our customers, and look forward to serving the good people of Mutiara Damansara this coming October,” he said.

To celebrate the opening, IPC Shopping Centre will organise fun activities such as a kids’ bento making workshop, face painting, and a balloon sculpture giveaway. For the entire month of July, the centre will also be offering exclusive gifts with a minimum purchase of just RM30.

Looking ahead, IPC Shopping Centre is prioritising family-friendly features with its redevelopment and will be creating an all-new kids’ play area, featuring a sweets and confectionery space called Funland, on Level 2. This will also be home to the second Young Chefs Academy in Malaysia, offering fun and creative cooking classes for kids.
