PETALING JAYA (July 28): Tropicana Corp Bhd has unveiled a new collection of homes dubbed Tropicana Urban Homes to offer more affordable houses to middle-income homebuyers.

During the launch of Tropicana Urban Homes today, Tropicana group CEO Datuk Yau Kok Seng said the developer targets to build 10,000 to 15,000 condominium units under the collection in strategic urban areas in the developer’s existing and new landbanks over the next five years.

“The move is in line with the government’s initiative to increase affordable housing supply and ownership in the country to one million units by 2020.

“Tropicana Urban Homes is our own initiative. But we see this complementing the government’s affordable housing schemes,” he said, adding that there is no specific criteria for buyers to be eligible for Tropicana Urban Homes.

The maiden launch of Tropicana Urban Homes will be conducted at two townships — Tropicana Aman in Kota Kemuning and Tropicana Heights in Kajang, which offer easy accessibility to central parks, educational institutions and neighborhood commercial hubs.

Tropicana Heights will see 1,025 units of Tropicana Urban Homes launched next month or September. They have a total gross development value of RM423 million. Meanwhile, Tropicana Aman will be launching about 3,000 units worth around RM1.3 billion in the next six to nine months.

With built-up sizes from 650 sq ft to 1,000 sq ft, the Tropicana Urban Homes units will be priced between RM300,000 and RM500,000.

“We are thrilled to offer first-time homebuyers, middle-income professionals, young buyers and new families, who aspire to live a modern lifestyle but need a little extra help to get on the property ladder,” he said.

He noted that the homes under this new collection will be built on the unique DNA of Tropicana using the Industrialised Building System, making it more cost-effective for the developer.

Tropicana will also be offering property management services, one-stop service centres for renovations and fit-out services to buyers of Tropicana Urban Homes.
