KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 24): Construction, property development and infrastructure concession player Ekovest Bhd bagged two awards at the The Edge Billion Ringgit Club (BRC) Awards 2017.

At the awards ceremony cum gala dinner held on Monday, Ekovest took home the silver awards for two categories — Highest Growth in Profit After Tax and Highest Returns to Shareholders over three years — in the construction category.

“We are very proud and honoured to be recognised by The Edge BRC,” said Ekovest managing director Datuk Sri Lim Keng Cheng. “These awards demonstrate the hard work of each and every Ekovest employee and their commitment to grow the company. It also gives us the extra impetus to achieve greater milestones ahead.”

“Ekovest will continue to seize various opportunities that can further solidify our leading position in the industry and bring our investors satisfactory returns,” added Lim in a statement yesterday.

Established in 2010 to recognise Malaysia’s best-performing companies, The Edge BRC recognises excellence in companies with a market capitalisation of above RM1 billion. The billion ringgit cut-off serves as an aspirational target for dynamic smaller companies.

Companies are added to the annual list automatically at the cut-off date (March 31) and are evaluated based on growth in profit, returns to shareholders and corporate responsibility commitments, among others.

Ekovest’s after tax profit for its financial year ended June 30, 2016 (FY16) totalled RM155.41 million. For FY14, the figure was RM47.11 million.
