KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 28): Mah Sing Group Bhd has awarded a RM50 million contract to Kimlun Corp Bhd to build a connecting road to the Tanjung Langsat–Cahaya Baru Toll Connecting Highway in Johor.

The connecting road to the highway — part of the Senai Desaru Expressway (SDE) — will be just one kilometre away from Mah Sing’s township development — “Meridin East” — the developer said in a statement today.

Mah Sing said the connecting road will help shorten time travel from the 1,313-acre, RM5 billion GDV integrated mixed development to key locations such as Tanjung Langsat and Pasir Gudang, to between 15 minutes and 45 minutes.

“The connecting road will also enhance connectivity by allowing easier access to the SDE, as well as the North-South Highway,” said Mah Sing CEO Datuk Ho Hon Sang.

“This will make Meridin East an even more appealing address for buyers, as we offer affordably priced homes with excellent facilities and accessibility,” he added.

Work for the construction is set to begin in the first quarter of 2018, with completion scheduled at end-2020.

Kimlun executive director Chin Lian Hing said: “We are really privileged to have business associates like Mah Sing and hope that our collaboration will take both organisations to greater heights.”

Meanwhile, Ho also expressed his confidence in Kimlun’s ability to deliver the project, given the latter’s “excellent” track record and expertise in road construction.

“In the span of almost 20 years in building flyovers and interchanges, a good number of years were spent [by Kimlun] working with Mah Sing.

“We are more than confident that this road construction project is in good hands,” Ho said.

At 3pm, shares of Kimlun Corp Bhd traded unchanged at RM2.18 for a market capitalisation of RM696.79 million. Shares of Mah Sing rose 0.67% to RM1.50, giving it a market capitalisation of RM3.6 billion. — theedgemarkets.com
