KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 16): Iris Corp Bhd announced a slew of boardroom changes today, together with the appointment of Shaiful Zahrin Subhan as its group CEO, effective today.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, it said he was previously the chief operating officer (COO) of the Malaysia Organising Committee (MASOC) under the Ministry of Youth and Sports to oversee all organisational aspects of the 29th SEA Games and 9th Asean Para Games hosted in Kuala Lumpur, on a one-year secondment basis from MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd (Astro) from October 2016 to September 2017.

“In Astro, he was the Vice President, Customer Division where he led a number of key business units for their TV operations where he served for five years from September 2011 to September 2016,” said Iris.

“Before joining Astro, Shaiful was attached with Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd from Jan 2008 to Aug 2011 where he held roles in Finance, Marketing and Sales with his last position as Head of Sales Development for the enterprise business,” Iris added.

In addition, its managing director Datuk Tan Say Jim has today resigned from his post in conjunction with his mandatory retirement at age 60.

Meanwhile, its COO Choong Choo Hock, 51, has been re-designated as CEO of IRIS Trusted Identification and Information Technology Division, with effect today.

Choong joined IRIS Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd as Director of Manufacturing in 2009. He was promoted as Director of Operations in 2010 and has assumed his current position as Group Director of Manufacturing of IRIS Corp Bhd and COO of IRIS Koto IBS since 2014.

Shares in Iris closed unchanged at 17.5 sen today with 2.25 million shares traded for a market capitalisation of RM432.58 million. — theedgemarkets.com
