KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 20): Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the late YTL Group founder Tan Sri Dr Yeoh Tiong Lay had built a successful business empire and contributed significantly to Malaysia's Chinese community.

Najib said this via Twitter yesterday following news on Yeoh's demise on Wednesday (Oct 18).

Najib said : "Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay built a successful business empire & made a huge contribution to Malaysia's Chinese community, including education. Rest in peace."

On Wednesday, YTL Corp Bhd said Yeoh passed away peacefully. He was 88.

"It is with deep sadness that we inform that the late Tan Sri (Dr) Yeoh Tiong Lay, executive chairman of YTL Corp and YTL Power (International Bhd), passed away peacefully on 18 October 2017," YTL Corp said in a statement. — theedgemarkets.com
