PETALING JAYA (Jan 30): One Crown Place, a mixed-use development in London developed by the Malaysian infrastructure conglomerate AlloyMtd Group, will open a luxury hotel in early 2020 within a restored Georgian terrace built in the 1800s, said adviser CBRE Group Inc in a statement today.

Bespoke Hotels has been appointed by AlloyMtd to manage the 41-bedroom hotel located along Sun Street.

“We are delighted to have been appointed to oversee the operation of the hotel at One Crown Place.

“The development will be a stunning landmark for London, further galvanising an area that has developed remarkably in recent years, with the hotel a key ingredient within this,” said Bespoke Hotels CEO Haydn Fentum.

The hotel will offer premier double rooms starting from £295 (RM1,622) per night, spanning five floors across six Georgian townhouses that were designed by George Dance the Younger, who was one of the most influential and talented architects of the 18th century.

Some of the hotel’s entertainment facilities are a 100-cover destination restaurant and bar and private member’s club, while the ground floor communal areas will be connected by rooms that include a public-facing deli, social cafe, art gallery in the lobby and a reception parlour, a club lounge with a bar and a connected library room.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s design will be directed by Bowler James Brindley, a firm that, along with Sophie Ashby’s Studio Ashby, is also one of the designers for the mixed-use development’s public spaces and apartments.

“The hotel itself is located within six original Georgian townhouses which have been much loved by local residents and workers for many years — the buildings have become a landmark for the area, so it has been a pleasure to be involved in restoring and bringing them back to their former glory, so they can be enjoyed to their full once again,” said Ian Bayliss, co-founder of Bowler James Brindley.

CBRE said the name of the hotel will be revealed later this year.

The hotel will be next to One Crown Place’s residential towers that comprise 246 luxury apartments and 140,000 sq ft of premium office space.

“Studio Ashby has designed the development’s nine penthouses, which launched late last year. Residential sales of the South Tower will be released to the public on March 1,” said CBRE.

The mixed-use development is designed by London and New York-based KPF Architects.
