KUALA LUMPUR (March 30): The Malaysian REIT Managers Association (MRMA) has re-elected Datuk Jeffrey Ng as chairman.

Ng is also chief executive officer of Sunway REIT Management Sdn Bhd. 

“We will continue to work to leverage on MRMA’s platform to proactively engage with various government ministries and agencies as well as Bursa Malaysia and the Securities Commission with regards to regulatory topics, as well as other areas that will enhance the competitiveness of Malaysian Real Estate Investment Trusts (M-REITs) in the region,” Bernama reported Ng as saying.

MRMA also chose a new line up in its executive committee with Hektar REIT CEO, Datuk Hisham Othman and Axis REIT CEO, Leong Kit May as vice-chairmen, Pavilion REIT head of Corporate, Planning Ong Hui Ling as the honorary treasurer and non-executive chairman of Alpha REIT, Datuk Stewart Labrooy as the honorary secretary Bernama reported.

Ng said the exco was pleased that the association had gained strong support from REIT managers in the country.

There are 18 listed M-REITs with a market capitalisation of RM40 billion as at Feb 28, 2018 and one unlisted REIT, established under the SC Guidelines for Real Estate Investment Trusts introduced in January 2005.
