Lim Lip Eng

KUALA LUMPUR (April 25): DAP’s Lim Lip Eng (pictured) has claimed that of the 64 lots of land which Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) sold between 2014 and 2018, only 30 have been used for affordable housing, the Malaysiakini news portal reported today.

"A parliamentary reply said 64 lots have been sold but out of this, I counted only 30 were used for affordable housing, (while) the rest were for commercial purposes and condominiums.

"So my question to caretaker federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, were all 64 lots sold through an open tender?

"I want an answer from him before nomination day (April 28)," the incumbent Segambut Member of Parliament and candidate for the parliamentary seat of Kepong for GE14 said during a media conference in Kepong today.

The reply said DBKL had sold 424.29 acres of land for a total sum of RM4.28 billion.

According to the Malaysiakini report, Lim claimed that a large number of units built on those lands were for the open market.

"How much were they? They can go up to RM1 million. Why the need for so many units for the open market?”

Lim also touched on the popular family recreation park of Taman Metropolitan in Kepong.

“In 2015, Tengku Adnan said the place had been gazetted for recreation but now, half of the land has been de-gazetted without proper procedure,” the FMT News portal reported Lim as saying.

“I may consider filing 64 complaints with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission if the authorities fail to give an answer before nomination day.”
