Taman Rimba Kiara

PETALING JAYA (May 25): Although local residents continue to protest against the controversial development on the Taman Rimba Kiara (TRK) (pictured) land in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Kuala Lumpur, the developer looks set to go ahead with the project.

The case is currently under judicial review while a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) report has been lodged.

According to Save Taman Rimba Kiara media coordinator Khairudin Rahim, Perbadanan Pengurusan Trellises (PPT), the management corporation of Trellises Apartment which is located a mere two-minute walk to the park, has received a letter from developer Memang Perkasa Sdn Bhd inviting the PPT to attend a briefing regarding a proposed dilapidation survey.

In the letter dated May 22, 2018 seen by EdgeProp.my, the developer has invited the PPT to attend a briefing to be held on June 6 at Balai Raya Rumah Panjang Bukit Kiara.

It said an independent surveyor will provide a briefing on the scope of work for the dilapidation survey. Such surveys form part of the preparatory works for the development on the TRK land.

The survey will check the current condition of the building and photographic records will be taken for future comparisons in case any defect or dilapidation occurring during construction.

The proposed TRK land development, which was approved in November last year, involves the building of eight blocks of 42- and 52-storey high-end serviced apartments (1,766 units) and a 30–storey affordable housing block (350 units).

Memang Perkasa had earlier informed PPT in an email on March 19 requesting access into the premises for a pre-construction condition survey.

However, PPT deferred the request. Instead, on May 17, PPT e-mailed a letter to Memang Perkasa stressing that it will only allow the survey to be conducted within its premises if it meets pre-requisites set by PPT.

Memang Perkasa replied that even if PPT refused the dilapidation survey, it will not affect the progress of the project.

Khairudin stressed that the developer shouldn’t carry out any work related to the project until the judicial review or MACC investigation is completed.

To recap, the judicial review seeks to quash the conditional planning permission and development order granted by DBKL to Memang Perkasa of which Malton Bhd holds a 51% stake.

The next hearing date for the judicial review has been fixed for June 13 before Judge Datuk Nordin Hassan.

Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh had on May 16, lodged a report to MACC against landowner Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan over the Taman Rimba Kiara development.
