PETALING JAYA (June 14): The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has given shut-down notices to some 15 restaurants so far this year, reported The Star.

According to the daily, in accordance with the MPSJ Food Establishment Bylaw 2007, when a restaurant does not achieve at least a 65% mark or grade C upon inspection, it is given a notice and asked to stop its operations.

It needs to clean up its premises between three to 14 days from the notice period, and will only be allowed to operate normally again once a follow-up inspection is done and gives it the green light.

There are 2,000 restaurants under the MPSJ jurisdiction, said MPSJ deputy president Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali, adding that inspection is conducted daily.

Meanwhile, The Star also reported that MPSJ will be on standby during the Hari Raya holidays to respond to any emergencies or disasters.

The team would act as first responders to complaints, said Zulkurnain.

“From tree falls, landslides, flash floods, we will be first to move to the location before other safety agencies like the fire department arrive,” he said.

For complaints that require immediate action, the public can contact MPSJ at (03) 8024 7700.
