PETALING JAYA (June 20): Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) is requesting from the state government an increase of development funds for rural and semi-urban areas in next year’s state Budget, according to the Malay Mail.
Sarawak has state reserves of about RM31 billion, therefore the increase should not be a problem, said PRS secretary-general Datuk Joseph Salang.
“We are not asking that the state’s coffers to be empty, but use some of it for development purposes,” he said.
He claimed that those from the rural and semi-urban communities there would reject the state ruling parties and support Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the next state election if their basic needs are not attended to by the state government, reported the Malay Mail.
“It is not only PRS that will lose its seats, but also other parties will also lose theirs and also lose the state government to PH,” he said.
