KUALA LUMPUR (July 3): Selangor’s water supply issues will be solved in one month – that is the assurance given by newly minted Minister of Water, Land and Natural Resources Dr A Xavier Jayakumar.

Bernama reported him saying that he has already held discussions with all parties involved in the problem, including Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

“There only remains a few points to be agreed upon, but we believe it can be resolved soon. I will seek the Cabinet’s permission to extend the period for another month,” he told the media after clocking in at Wisma Sumber Asli, Putrajaya today.

The deadline for the restructuring of the Selangor water industry is supposed to be July 4.

Xavier Jayakumar said all the relevant parties must have the commitment to solve the issue immediately.

"Let's not talk about the past, let's go for the future. I think we are ready to solve the problem that has been going on for such a long time. All parties are ready in order to see an end to this, and we are definitely ready to get this done within one month," Bernama reported him as saying.

Xavier Jayakumar, who is also MP for Kuala Langat, said the assurance to solve Selangor’s water supply issue within 100 days is contained in Pakatan Harapan’s manifesto for GE14.
