PUTRAJAYA (July 3): Embattled former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was brought to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters here following his arrest at his home in Kuala Lumpur.

An MACC official confirmed that Najib arrived at the premises at 4pm, shortly after Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun left after a closed-door meeting with the anti-graft agency's chief commissioner Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull and other officials.

It is understood that Najib will be spending the night in MACC's lockup. The agency will press charges on him tomorrow, the official confirmed.

Meanwhile, Najib's stepson Riza Aziz was still being questioned by MACC at the headquarters as at press time.

He will be charged in a court in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow, it added in a statement.

SRC International, set up in 2011 by Najib to explore strategic in the energy sector, was formerly a subsidiary of 1MDB before it was placed under the purview of the Finance Ministry, which Najib also helmed.

The four-man task force comprises Mohd Shukri, former attorney-general Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, former MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, and former Bukit Aman Special Branch deputy director Datuk Abdul Hamid Badoor. — theedgemarkets.com
