KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 7): Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has denied rumours he will be arrested by police today.

"No, no... [I've heard] nothing," he told reporters who crowded around him at the Parliament lobby here, as he walked away.

Quoting sources, news portal Free Malaysia Today said the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had asked Najib to present himself at their headquarters in Putrajaya today. He is expected to be there at 5pm.

Another source told the Malay Mail that Najib may be kept overnight in lock-up in MACC’s KL office before being brought to the Kuala Lumpur High Court tomorrow to separately be charged with a fresh offence under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

“He might be detained when he goes to give his statement to the authorities later,” said the source. — theedgemarkets.com
