KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 26): Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor have been stripped of their titles which carry the Datuk Seri honorific by the Negeri Sembilan ruler.

Citing the registrar of titles, Bernama today said the palace had stripped Najib of the Darjah Seri Utama Negeri Sembilan title and Rosmah of the Darjah Seri Paduka Tuanku Ja'afar Yang Amat Terpuji with immediate effect.

Najib, however, still holds Datuk Seri titles from other states, including Pahang, Melaka, Sabah, Sarawak, Penang, Kelantan, Kedah and Perlis.

Bernama reported State Registrar of Awards Dr Razali Ab Malik as saying the decision was made today during a special meeting of the awards, titles and honours committee at Istana Besar Seri Menanti, near Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan. — theedgemarkets.com
