SUBANG JAYA (Oct 26): Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has increased its towing and compound charges for illegally parked vehicles.

The Star reports that MPSJ president Noraini Roslan Said said the charges would now be RM200 for towing and RM50 for each compound.

“We are still one of the councils with the lowest charges. The increase is necessary in view of the actual cost involved,” she was quoted as saying. The actual cost of towing is reportedly RM300.

These new charges will come into effect starting January, next year.

The daily reports that the council also announced the decision to confiscate moveable items from strata properties, with unpaid maintenance fees above RM,2000.

Noraini was quoted as saying that under Sections 35 and 79 of the Strata Management Act 2013 ( Act 757), the confiscation was allowed.

Implementation of the move had already begun, and warrants (Form A) had been issued at Cempaka Flats in Taman Puchong Prima on Oct 13. Eight units had outstanding maintenance bills of between RM2,000 and RM5,000.
