KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 1): Former Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said she has no knowledge of the RM2 billion land purchase as it did not take place during her tenure.

“I know nothing about it at all and I’ve left the bank for up to three years now. It’s not during my time,” she told reporters on the sidelines of Sime Darby Property Bhd’s annual general meeting yesterday. She is chairman of Sime Darby Property.

“Furthermore, to give the bank space after I left, I was hardly in touch with the bank at all, I hardly saw anyone from the bank and I’ve moved on with my own life,” she added. She was responding to news that four BNM officials have had to go on leave pending investigations into the central bank’s land acquisition in January.
