PETALING JAYA (Nov 2): For those thinking of embarking on a career of real estate development, two institutions are now joining forces to offer a post-graduate degree course to enhance one’s qualifications.

Rehda Institute is working with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman’s (Utar) Faculty of Accountancy and Management to set up a master’s degree programme on real estate development, reported The Sun newspaper today.

The two inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Oct 19 to jointly offer the Master of Real Estate Development, a post-graduate course catering to the “needs” of the property development sector “with inputs and syllabus content designed by the industry”, said the report from the English daily.

The programme will be run at Utar’s Sungai Long Campus under the purview of the university’s Faculty of Accountancy and Management, while students’ enrolment in the programme, administration, teaching, assessments, course materials, teaching resources, curriculum revision and awarding of the master’s degree parchment will also be organised by Utar.

The course is expected to start in May next year after approvals from the Education Ministry. The duration of the course will be 18 months and will include modules such as industry practice and exposure,

Students will also gain from “inputs” from experts and “experienced industry players”.

“This master’s programme is part of our contribution in giving back to the industry through education. We have designed it to prepare the industry’s workforce to be property development industry leaders of the next generation,” said Rehda Institute chairman Datuk Jeffrey Ng (pictured).

“I believe that UTAR and Rehda Institute have similar vision in the pursuit of educational excellence and the promotion of university industry collaboration. Through our synergy, let’s look forward to closer ties and greater achievements not just in the development of the programme but also in areas of research in the real estate industry,” said Utar president Prof Datuk Dr Chuah Hean Teik.
