PETALING JAYA (Jan 4): Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd (PHB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yayasan Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera, has appointed Datuk Mahmud Fauzi Muda (pictured) as its new group managing director and CEO with effect from Jan 1.

This follows the retirement of the company’s former group managing director and CEO Datuk Kamalul Arifin Othman, who served his full contract term until his retirement on Dec 31, 2018.

“PHB would like to thank Datuk Kamalul Arifin for his long service and valuable contribution to PHB,” the company announced today.

Mahmud Fauzi was formerly PHB’s chief operating officer and has been leading PHB’s operations since January 2007.

Mahmud Fauzi has close to 30 years of experience in the property industry, both in property investment and property development. He holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Real Estate Management from the University of Reading, UK and received executive education at INSEAD Singapore.

Prior to serving in PHB, he was attached to Khazanah Nasional as senior vice-president. He was a general manager in the property division of Golden Hope Plantations Bhd (now part of Sime Darby Group) as well as general manager at property development company, Island & Peninsular Bhd, prior to Khazanah Nasional.

PHB sponsors Amanah Hartanah Bumiputera (AHB), a shariah-compliant unit trust fund backed by real-estate for Bumiputera investors. The fund was launched in November 2010.

PHB currently owns 22 commercial buildings comprising office towers, retail malls, private hospitals as well as an industrial warehouse in the Klang Valley, Penang, Johor and Melaka totalling approximately 7.4 million sq ft in lettable area.

It is also undertaking several property development projects involving office towers and a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur, as well as a new retail mall in Kuala Terengganu.
