PETALING JAYA (Jan 22): A humble mixed-rice stall in Ipoh famous for its fried chicken has an international star in its list of fans.

Hong Kong director and actor Chapman To made the five-hour flight to Ipoh just to savour the tender and succulent "Brigitte Lin" chicken at Restoran Canning Garden there.

Why is it called Brigitte Lin? The name of the fried chicken was inspired by the proprietor's wife who looked just like the Taiwanese actress.

Malay Mail report said staff at the eatery were oblivious to his presence in the restaurant.

However, he certainly made his presence felt -- his Facebook posting drew a horde of customers eager to sample the juicy chicken he raved about.

An employee said the chicken is served at 11am, half an hour after the mixed-rice outlet opens for business.

It takes 10 minutes to fry but a mere 2 minutes to be sold out.

Can't get your hands on the legendary snack? Don't worry -- fans of the restaurant also heartily recommend the chee cheong fun there, available with three types of gravies: sweet, chilli and mushroom.
