PETALING JAYA (March 6): Recalcitrant developers in Petaling Jaya better watch out!

Mayor Datuk Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain have sent out a warning, saying Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) would confiscate the developers’ land if they continue not to pay assessment arrears, reported The Star.

“We will seize their land if they do not pay or forfeit their deposit before starting the development,” he said.

Mohd Azizi revealed to the daily that RM4.61 million worth of unpaid assessment “was recorded in Damansara Damai and Ara Damansara to date”.

“In Damansara Damai, there are 1,640 cases amounting to RM3.47 million in unpaid assessment and 467 cases in Ara Damansara amounting to RM1.14 million.

“Homeowners must update MBPJ on their latest mailing address to receive assessment bills within three months of the change of ownership,” he said.

It was also reported by the daily that dueting enforcement operations in Bandar Sri Damansara from Feb 16 to 19, “MBPJ seized goods from 500 housing units with owners owing RM1.1 million in unpaid assessments”.
