Khazanah's ED Hisham Hamdan is new UDA Holdings chairman

KUALA LUMPUR (March 13): Khazanah Nasional Bhd executive director (investment) Datuk Hisham Hamdan has been appointed the new chairman of UDA Holdings Bhd, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship Development announced yesterday.

In a statement, the ministry also announced the appointment of three new members to UDA Holdings' board of directors, namely Datuk Mohd Rafee Mohamed, Datuk Rosli Dahlan and Mohamad Subki Ahmad, to replace those whose service tenure has ended.

All appointments took effect on Feb 28, 2019.

"The Ministry of Entrepreneurial Development welcomes the appointment of chairman and three board members in UDA, and is confident that the wide range of experience they possess, particularly in the fields of real estate development, law, architecture and quantity surveying, will inject new spirit into and serve as an aspiration for UDA to continue to reach for excellence and shoulder the mandate that it is given," said the ministry.

Hisham, according to the ministry, is also Khazanah's chief of research and strategic investment and has 28 years of experience in the corporate structure of multiple businesses, including real estate development, healthcare, business investment, energy and utility at the international level.

"Datuk Mohd Rafee Mohamed is a quantity surveyor registered with the Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia, a fellow to The Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia and a member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICB)," it said.

"Whereas Datuk Rosli Dahlan is a defence lawyer and solicitor for the Malayan High Court and a shariah lawyer for the Federal Territories Shariah Court.

"Meanwhile, Mohamad Subki has a wide range of experience in multiple architectural development and is involved with the Board of Architects Malaysia, the Malaysian Institute of Architects and the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers," the statement added. — theedgemarkets.com
