KUALA LUMPUR (March 28): We have heard of sexual harassments and abuse of power at the work place.

The mental stress and agony on the victims are terrible.

And now, a new form of harassment/bullying has been discovered Down Under – the use of farts.

The BBC has reported that David Hingst has claimed that his ex-boss Greg Short “repeatedly broke wind” at him at their workplace, Construction Engineering in Melbourne.

Hingst sued his former employer in 2017 for A$1.8 million (RM5.21 million) in compensation, but the case was thrown out by the Victoria Supreme Court in April last year.

He appealed that decision, and was heard by the Court of Appeal on Monday (March 25).

Here is a sample of the horror allegedly faced by Hingst at his former place of employment in the hands of Short: "I would be sitting with my face to the wall and he would come into the room, which was small and had no windows. He would fart behind me and walk away. He would do this five or six times a day," Hingst told the Australian Associated Press (APP).

According to a report by news.com.au, things got so bad that Hingst had to spray deodorant on Short and called him “Mr Stinky”.

The news.com.au report also stated that Short claimed he didn’t recall doing it (farting) “but I may have done it once or twice, maybe”.

“I don’t recall doing so, so I’m not flat out saying I didn’t or I did. I just can’t remember doing it. But if he alleges I did it...”

In the end, Short said even if he did fart, he denied he was doing it “with the intention of distressing or harassing” Hingst. “No, not at all, no,” he insisted, according to the news.com.au report.

Hingst, however, claimed Short’s actions were “part of a conspiracy to get rid of him, and said his time at Construction Engineering caused him psychiatric injuries”.

AAP reported Hingst reiterated his farting claims on Monday, saying: “He thrusted his bum at me while he’s at work.”

The BBC reported that Hingst felt “he had not received a fair trial and that the judge in charge of his previous case was biased against him”.

The Court of Appeal will deliver its ruling tomorrow (Friday).
