SUBANG JAYA (April 10): The Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has teamed up with the Petaling Land Office to demolish an illegal structure at Jalan BP 4/1, Bandar Bukit Puchong 4, Selangor, reported The Star today.

MPSJ Corporate and Strategic Management Department deputy director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said the “government-owned land” was used as an illegal dumpsite and temporary dog shelter.

Azfarizal told the daily that the site was used as a dog shelter but the animals were vacated after a notice was issued to the owner about two years ago.

It then became an “illegal dumping ground” in 2016 but activities halted when MPSJ zeroed in on the dumpsters.

“The truck drivers fled when they saw MPSJ officers monitoring the entrances. However, they became active again last year.

“These truck drivers would dispose of the rubbish here to save the extra cost of sending rubbish to designated landfills like Dengkil Inert Waste Landfill.

“MPSJ has been consistently monitoring the entrance to prevent them from entering the site,” Azfarizal explained.

According to reports, the local council “issued 21 disturbance notices and 52 compound notices to the lorry owners and companies in 2018 under Section 82 of the Local Government Act 1976” over the illegal dumping.

The daily reported that 60 MPSJ officers and 20 Petaling Land Office staff were involved in the joint operation led by assistant district officer Mohd Farid Shaharir to demolish the illegal structure yesterday.
