IPOH (June 8): The Perak Tourism Association (PTA) has called on the authorities to “restore the former Majestic Station Hotel at the Ipoh Railway Station to its former glory”, reported The Star today.

“It is really sad to see the building like this. The state government and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) should do something.

“The building belongs to KTMB. They cannot leave it in a dilapidated state,” PTA chairman Datuk Mohammad Odzman Abdul Kadir told the daily.

Mohammad Odzman said the building can be made into an “exhibition space to promote state products or used as a tourism information centre”.

“The train station is the gateway to Perak’s capital and also the state.

“I think it is about time we do something about this building,” he said.

The hotel ceased operations in 2011 and the premises were returned to KTMB.
