KUALA LUMPUR (June 12): Former press secretary to Housing and Local Government Minister, Ahmad Soffian Mohd Shariff (pictured) today revealed he resigned from his job after losing faith in the Pakatan Harapan government.

But he also added that he still retained tremendous respect for minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, reported Malaysiakini.

"Zuraida is a great employer, my personal view is that she is the best minister and leader in the Pakatan Harapan cabinet.

"As a whole, it wasn't because of the ministry or my old job, but I'm not confident with the current government.

"Which is why I resigned, I didn't want to be a thorn in the flesh. I'm not confident in the structure of the government overall," he was reported saying by the news portal during a media conference here.

Ahmad Soffian said that the Attorney General’s directive to remove his wife Syazlin Mansor from representing the Fire and Rescue Department and the Housing and Local Government Ministry in the inquest of the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim also prompted him to quit his post.

Other issues relating to the PH government not fulfilling its manifesto such as the National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) loans problem also caused unhappiness with Ahmad Soffian.

So what does he intend to do now that he is unemployed: maybe selling burgers, he joked.
