JOHOR BARU (June 27): Sales executive Azlaili Abd Aziz was so unsatisfied with the renovation done on her new home that she decided to take the contractor to the Consumer Claims Tribunal in Menara Ansar here, The Star reported yesterday.

Azlaili forked out RM80,000 to the contractor to renovate her RM800,000 cluster home in Taman Kota Masai near Pasir Gudang here but she told the daily that “the money spent on the renovations is not worth it”.

“We noticed the defects and shoddy workmanship only after moving in,” she said, adding that walls had uneven surfaces, window frames were tilted and there was bad electricity wiring.

Meanwhile, Azlaili said the contractor “claimed there was nothing wrong with the workmanship”.

The report stated that Azlaili “is claiming RM17,000 from the contractor from the total renovations cost”.

Consumer Claims Tribunal president Khairul Azreem has reportedly ordered the contractor to pay the claimant “the sum within 30 days”.
