KPKT will meet dissatisfied PR1MA homebuyers

PETALING JAYA (Sept 27): The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) will engage with the dissatisfied buyers of 1Malaysia People’s Housing Scheme (PR1MA) homes who claim to have incurred losses owing to PR1MA's discounts and rebates of up to 30% offered to new purchasers.

"We have compiled around 500 appeal cases from PR1MA buyers nationwide. We will have a meeting with them in October," said KPKT Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin at a media conference after the exchange of agreement documents between PR1MA and its project developers and partners today.

However, no commitment was made whether these buyers will be compensated.

"If you go by the sell and buy rules, once you buy you cannot get discounts later. But we're trying to be nice and engage with them," she said.

In July this year, 1,058 individuals filed originating summons against PR1MA at the Kuala Lumpur High Court, calling for PR1MA’s discounts to be declared “null and void”.

According to a news report, the individuals claimed that PR1MA’s rebates of as much as 20% given to new house buyers have caused a devaluation of their properties and significant financial losses to existing property owners.

PR1MA is offering rebates of up to 20% on top of the existing discount of 10% under the Home Ownership Campaign (HOC).
