GEORGE TOWN (Nov 1): Looks like there will be another reason besides the yummy food to visit the Pearl of The Orient in the near future.
The Penang government is planning to build a RM10 million coastal resort and spa in Batu Ferringhi, the Malay Mail reported Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow (pictured) saying today.
He revealed such plans his speech for the state’s 2020 budget, adding that “the project will be public-private partnership initiative”.
“This international standard project will offer between 80 and 100 rooms, spa service and beach tourism facilities,” he said.
Chow added that the state authorities were “optimistic that the project will spur the state’s tourism sector while contributing towards the local economy”, reported the news portal.
“So, Penang will continue to attract more tourists to our state through the campaign ‘Experience Penang Year 2020’ with the tagline Celebrate Asia’s Diversity,” he said.
Health conscious travel bugs cannot wait for the spa to be completed.
