KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 13): Having trouble paying a traffic fine? Planning to cut down on meals because you plonked your car in a no parking zone and now have to pay up for your transgression? Fear not.

The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police are giving a chance for the public to settle their summonses at a 50% discount during their “Meet the Customers Day”, The Star reported today.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya told the daily that the “Meet the Customers Day” will take place on Dec 24 and Dec 26 (8.30am and 4pm) in conjunction with the Christmas season.

He said there will be sufficient police staff on duty at its KL HQ located at Balai Polis Trafik, Jalan Tun H.S. Lee on both days of the “Meet the Customers Day” to cater to the public.

“We advise the public to come early to avoid any inconvenience.

“Offering discounts is one of our ways to encourage the people to settle their summonses before they are blacklisted,” Zulkefly told the daily.

However, according to the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Facebook page, there are some summonses that are not eligible for the 50% discount. They are:

1 Accident summonses,

2 Non-compoundable summonses,

3 Summonses with current year warrant status,

4 Summonses involving ongoing trials,

5 Summonses issued during Ops Selamat this year, and

6 Court-ordered and lorry-related summonses.
