KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 16): Former PM Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has described the allegation by former police Special Action Force (UTK) personnel Azilah Hadri that he ordered the killing of Altantuya Shaariibuu as “a complete fabrication”.

Najib told Malaysiakini that “it could be a plot by the Pakatan Harapan administration to divert public attention from its shortcomings”.

As for Azilah, Najib said: “This is a complete fabrication by a desperate person seeking to escape the gallows.

“Why did this information not come out earlier, and only now, more than a decade after her death and only after 19 months Harapan has been in power?”

“I believe this is a deal struck between the Harapan government and Azilah, with the latter's death sentence being commuted or delayed in return. This is an attempt to distract attention and to hit out at me,” Najib told the news portal.

Malaysiakini made a report today based on a statutory declaration (SD) dated Oct 17, 2019 where Azilah revealed that Najib ordered him to “arrest and destroy” Altantuya. Azilah was also told by the former PM (then deputy PM) that the Mongolian woman was a “foreign spy”.

Meanwhile, Najib’s daughter Nooryana Najwa Najib made an Instagram posting stating that the latest allegation against her father was meant to “mask certain parties' incompetencies”.

“MY FATHER is NOT a MURDERER,” she wrote in her posting.

“And who is the biggest victim in all of these never-ending games of betrayal and slander? It is the Rakyat, our children, our grandchildren....Are we going to allow lies and deceit to be the new order of success in our country?” she added.
