Selangor exco: What ghost city?

PETALING JAYA (Jan 31): Selangor local government, public transportation and new village development executive councillor Ng Sze Han has refuted any suggestion that Shah Alam is becoming a "ghost city".

Posting on his Facebook and Twitter account yesterday in reference to a report by an online news portal titled “Shah Alam Turning into a Ghost City?”, Ng who is also the Kinrara state assemblyman said:

“Which part of Shah Alam is turning into a ghost city? Because of Plaza Perangsang and few other buildings have lower occupancy rate, you claim Shah Alam is a ghost city?

“Yes, Plaza Perangsang is old and need to refurbish (sic), but outside Plaza Peransang, Section 14 of Shah Alam, is still very lively during day time. Shah Alam city centre is one of the most well planned townships, with the 43ha recreational lake park in the city centre. It is probably the only city centre with so much of green and not over developed.

“Shah Alam city centre is an administrative and a commercial hub, not designed as entertainment hub. Similarly, you don’t expect to see a busy nightlife in Putrajaya.”

When contacted, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari conveyed through an aide that he shared Ng’s sentiments, but did not elaborate further.

Meanwhile, Plaza Perangsang building owner Kumpulan Peransang Selangor Bhd (KPS) could not be reached for comments.
