KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 25): Yeo Bee Yin (pictured) has strong words for the political movements that took place over the weekend – “Last Sunday, less than two years from the historic day, at the same place, Malaysians witnessed the greatest treachery in the nation's history”.

Yeo, who was the Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change, said in a Facebook posting that “I don't want this place, once marked by a historical democratic win of millions of fellow Malaysians who hungered for change, to be tainted by the few selfish and power-craze politicians”.

The “this place” and “same place” Yeo is referring to is the PJ Sheraton Hotel where Pakatan Harapan’s newly elected members of parliament “stood together to declare that corrupt regime of Umno BN was finally over”.

The hotel was also the venue where the kartel faction meeting of PKR headed by Datuk Seri Azmin Ali took place on Sunday.

But the law maker for Bakri, Johor is still hopeful.

“But it is not over yet. In the next few days, let us all pray and do our part, let us be reminded of the spirit we had in believing in the impossible on 9th May 2018 to protect the democracy in Malaysia.

“What we are protecting is not Pakatan Harapan government, but the legitimate government elected by the people through the ballot boxes. We are protecting democracy.

“Let us show to the next generation that election and voting are something worth doing,” she added.
