KUALA LUMPUR (March 5): Parti Pribumi Bersatu Youth leader Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (pictured) has urged Umno and PAS leaders to declare their assets.

"If Ku Nan, BN's secretary-general, can gather around RM1 billion in assets, imagine other BN leaders," Syed Saddiq said in a tweet.

The Bersatu Youth chief also added that he was one of the earliest ministers in the Pakatan Harapan government to publicly declare his assets.

Yesterday, it was diclosed in a court case that Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor has RM930 million in assets after his application to have his asset declarations be heard in-camera was rejected by the High Court.

In making his judgement, Justice Mohamed Zaini said trial proceedings must not only be done fairly but must also be seen to be conducted fairly and transparently.

Tengku Adnan has been charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code for accepting RM2 million from Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd managing director Chai via a Hong Leong Islamic Bank cheque belonging to his company.

Also commenting on Tengku Adnan's assets was PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“We are stunned to discover the amazing prosperity of an Umno chief who is now at the Kuala Lumpur court docket. It was said that his wealth was in excess of RM800 million.

“Before this, it was revealed that Tan Sri Jamaluddin Jarjis [former Minister of Science, Technologies and Innovation] has billions in assets.

“These two have been hailed as Malay leaders, who have run election campaigns centered on the slogan that they defend the plight of the Malays. A lot has to be explained to the rakyat,” Anwar said in a video posting on his Facebook.
