PETALING JAYA (March 19):  A man who was infected by COVID-19 has taken a bus from Johor Bahru to Kuantan, reported Free Malaysia Today.

This has set alarm bells ringing at the Kuantan Health Department who have now urged all passengers who took the same bus to report to health authorities and nearby government clinics to be tested.

The department told FMT that the bus concerned was a Plusliner express bus with the licence plate VDJ 2367 while the trip took place on March 16, two days before the nation wide movement control order kicked in.

The report also stated that bus started its journey from Johor Bahru’s Larkin Sentral station at 7.45pm and reached its destination at the Kuantan Terminal Sentral.

The news portal also reported that the passenger had gone for COVID-19 test in Johor Bahru, but did not go for quarantine.

He then travelled to Kuantan on the bus “during which time the test result returned”.

The police reported yesterday that many people are still defying the movement control order.

And Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said in a national broadcast yesterday that the government may be forced to extend the existing 14-day Movement Control Order if it fails to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“The government hopes that after this two week-period, those with symptoms are able to be isolated and treated, making Malaysia free of COVID-19.

“If during this period, we are unable to succeed completely, the government may be forced to extend the duration of the Movement Control Order,” said Muhyiddin.
