KUALA LUMPUR (March 27): British Prime Minister Boris Johnson (pictured) has tested positive for COVID-19 and has started self-isolation, Reuters reported today.

Johnson, however, is insisting on carrying on his work, especially in efforts to battle the viral pandemic.

"Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.

"I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus." Johnson said.

A Downing Street spokesman told the media that Johnson “experienced mild symptoms” on Thursday, a day after he answered at the prime minister's weekly question-and-answer session in the House of Commons, Reuters reported.

"The prime minister was tested for coronavirus on the personal advice of England's Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty," the spokesman said.

Earlier this week, Prince Charles was reported to have caught COVID-19.

The Prince of Wales, 71, was tested positive for COVID-19, reported BBC News today.

However, other than showing mild symptoms of the disease, he “remains in good health", said a spokesman.
