Menara City One management company: Not fair to blame foreigners for infections

KUALA LUMPUR (March 31): It is not fair to say that many people living and working Menara City One (pictured) because many foreigners are living there, said a spokesman from the Menara City One management company.

The spokesman told The Star that just one of the infected residents of Menara City One condominium tower on Jalan Munshi Abdullah was linked to the Sri Petaling Mosque tabligh event cluster.

“The 12 people who were tested positive for COVID-19 are from just one (foreign) family, so it's not fair to say that many people were infected because the building has a high concentration of foreigners living there," the spokesman told the daily today.

“The 12 people infected are from a big family, who must have got it via close proximity," he added.

The spokesman explained that the residents of the condominium comprised of 70 percent foreigners who mostly work in and around the Masjid India area.

The management company is also helping to buy food and essentials for those who need it badly while the building is under the enhanced movement control order (MCO).

The Menara City One on Jalan Munshi Abdullah is currently under the EMCO beginning today until April 13.

Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said yesterday the decision was made after the Ministry of Health had confirmed 17 COVID-19 infections at the residential tower.
