KUALA LUMPUR (April 1): The prosecution's oral submissions in the graft case involving former Felda chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad (pictured) has now been fixed for April 21, following the enforcement of the Movement Control Order.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Afzainizam Abdul Aziz confirmed that High Court's Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali fixed the date after the initial date, March 23, was vacated due to the MCO.

“The April 21 date has been fixed for submissions if the MCO has been lifted by then,” DPP Afzainizam told the theedgemarkets.com.

The prosecution has closed its case against Isa on Jan 14, who is facing criminal breach of trust and bribery charges involving RM3.09 million for the purchase of the Merdeka Palace Hotels and Suites in Kuching in 2014.

A total of 15 prosecution witnesses had been called to testify during the trial that spanned over 14 days.

Meanwhile, Justice Mohamed Zaini Mazlan has fixed April 17 for the mention of the graft case involving former Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor. It was originally set to resume late last month but had been deferred due to the MCO.

Tengku Adnan has finished giving his testimony, while three more defence witnesses are scheduled to take the stand after him.

He faces a charge under Section 165 of the Penal Code, for accepting a bribe of RM2 million from businessman Tan Sri Chai Kin Kong, who is also a director of Aset Kayamas Sdn Bhd (AKSB), which was deposited into the CIMB Bank account of Tadmansori Holdings Sdn Bhd in which he has an interest.

The offence was allegedly committed at the Pusat Bandar Damansara branch of CIMB Bank Bhd here on June 14, 2016.

In his defence, he maintained that it was a political donation for the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar by-election in 2016.
