LANGKAWI (April 22): Langkawi Wildlife Park launched an adoption programme to raise funds to help cover daily expenses of the 150 types of animal in the park.

Langkawi Wildlife Park’s manager Nur Hamzani Hamzah yesterday said that the park relied on ticket sales to survive. The park was forced to shut down temporarily due to the movement control order enforced from March 18.

She said that the park's daily operation cost is RM8,000. The amount includes feed for the animals such as fishes, vegetables, fruits, poultries and grains.

There are more than 10 animals up for adoption in the programme such as fennec fox, grey crowned crane, lesser mousedeer, Indian peafowl, Asian small clawed otter, greater flamingo, common raccoon, and white-bellied sea eagle.

More information can be found on the park's website: https://langkawiwildlifepark.com/

The park also welcomed food donations.
