PETALING JAYA (May 7): Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pictured) has been reported to be sacking a number of city councillors, with more expected to lose their posts.

According to a report by The Star, six councillors have already been sacked, with all of them claiming the action was "political vendetta".

The half dozen councillors who lost their jobs are Sepang city councillor Muhammad Mizan Adli Muhammad Noor; Nallan Dhanabalan, Haslina Abin@Kassim, Salmah Ismail and Hassan Yusof from the Ampang Jaya City Council, and Ismail Kamal Abdul Rahman, a councillor with the Subang Jaya City Council.

No reasons were stated for their sacking. The Star reported that their termination letters signed by Amirudin “simply stated that their services as councillors for the 2018-2020 period were being terminated as of May 7 under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1976 (Act 171)”.
