KUALA LUMPUR (May 14): The 228-room The Emperor Hotel Melaka (pictured) will cease operations, impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and the ensuing movement control order (MCO) that was imposed, the New Straits Times reported yesterday.
According to the report, general manager Francis Lopez has notified customers and business associates about the decision in a letter.
"As a result of this crisis, we are unable to sustain the business operations any further and the business is no longer viable.
"Regretfully, we are left with no other alternatives but to close for business indefinitely," Lopez said in the letter dated May 12, reported the daily.
"However, we will continue to perform our duties, fulfil our obligations and/or pursue our rights and entitlement under any of the existing contracts or legal arrangements with our contracting parties," he added.
There were, however, no details on when the hotel will actually close.
