KUALA LUMPUR (May 18): Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah left the Parliament today mere minutes after concluding his opening address at the inauguration of the latest Parliament term.

The King’s motorcade was seen driving off, followed closely behind by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s convoy of cars.

Shortly after that, former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak was also seen leaving in his car.

Permatang Pauh MP Nurul Izzah Anwar stopped amid the press assembled outside the road leading up to the Parliament to say a few words to them from her car, but due to social distancing, she could not be heard.

Former prime minister and Langkawi MP Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also seen leaving shortly after.

A steady stream of cars were seen leaving the area under heavy police protection.
