KUALA LUMPUR (June 2): The Ministry of Health has detected a new Covid-19 cluster at a block of flats in Cheras, involving Malaysians.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said six of the flat residents have tested positive for Covid-19.

However, the source of infection is still under investigation.

Data provided by the ministry yesterday also showed two new cases were detected at another cluster involving foreign workers at a cleaning company, raising the number of positive cases there so far to 26.

Meanwhile, the Pudu cluster saw one new case yesterday, bringing the total to 77 cases.

Noor Hisham said the other 28 clusters did not record any new case yesterday.

The ministry reported 38 new Covid-19 cases, yesterday, comprising 26 imported cases and 12 local transmissions.

This brings the total number of cases in the country so far to 7,857.

No new deaths were reported, maintaining the toll at 115. This accounts for 1.46% of total cases.

Noor Hisham said another 51 patients were discharged as of noon yesterday, raising total recoveries to 6,404. This gives a recovery rate of 81.5%.

The number of active cases dropped to 1,338, from 1,351 reported on Sunday.
