KUALA LUMPUR (June 3): Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pictured) and all the other government officers who were involved in the post-Cabinet meeting on May 20 have ended their 14-day self-quarantine today and will return to work as normal tomorrow, according to Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Dr Noor Hisham said besides the one officer who has tested positive, no other officers have tested positive after taking their second swab test at the end of the self-quarantine period.

"Today is actually the 14th day from the day [they started] isolation or quarantine. So we have taken the swab [samples], all the post-Cabinet meeting members are negative. So tomorrow they will resume work in their office," he told reporters at his daily press briefing in Putrajaya today.

Noor Hisham added that none of them have tested positive and even the one officer who did is showing improvement in his condition.

On May 22, the Prime Minister's Office announced that Muhyiddin has been ordered to undergo 14 days of self-quarantine after an attendee of a post-Cabinet meeting tested positive for Covid-19.

All those present during the meeting — which is believed to have involved 35 government officers — have also been ordered to undergo preliminary testing and to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.

However, the list of attendees and the identities of the other government leaders and officials present during the meeting were not disclosed.

It was later revealed that the government officer who tested positive was Auditor-General (A-G) Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid.

The National Audit Department on May 23 confirmed that a memo dated May 21, which was circulated online, was indeed issued by the A-G to inform his deputies to take over his duties while he was put in isolation after testing positive for Covid-19.
