PUTRAJAYA (June 11): Building management bodies and homeowners have the right to ask their contractors to undergo a Covid-19 swab test, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pictured) said today.

The FMT reported the minister explaining that even though the authorities have made it mandatory only for foreign contractors and workers to be tested for Covid-19, Ismail Sabri added that management bodies and owners have the right to ask local contractors carrying out works on their properties to be tested for the disease.

“It is up to the management; the same goes for individuals [owners]. Say, I want a contractor to do renovations on my home and I want them to do the Covid-19 swab test. That’s between me and the contractor [to agree].

“I have the right to protect myself,” he said at his daily press conference on the Covid-19 situation here.
