PETALING JAYA (June 23): 1 Utama Shopping Mall will be injecting an additional RM1 million to the existing RM1 million Retail Stimulus Package it introduced back in March 2020 before the Movement Control Order (MCO), the regional mall in Petaling Jaya, Selangor announced today.

The initiative was launched by the shopping centre to "incentivise and reward shoppers and tenants".

“This marketing reward scheme is over and above the rental rebates we have given to all our eligible tenants. We believe that it is more effective and sustainable to complement rental reliefs with more promotional and incentive schemes benefiting our loyal shoppers and patrons,” 1 Utama director Tan Sri Teo Chiang Kok said in a statement today.

Phase 2 of the stimulus will kick off on June 26 in the form of an additional RM1 million worth of Smart E-Cash Vouchers – personalised to each qualified shopper’s shopping preferences, through the use of intelligent data and digital shopping insights. The cash vouchers are fully funded by 1 Utama.

1 Utama ONECARD senior manager Julia Kong said the adoption of cutting edge technology and big data to match shoppers with their favourite stores and favourite purchases in 1 Utama based on their shopping patterns, needs and likes allows for targeted vouchers for shoppers ranging from RM5 to RM50.

“Our smart E-cash Vouchers are highly personalized to attune our marketing and ultimately to maximize customer experience,” said Kong.

Safe and contactless, the smart E-cash Vouchers can be redeemed via 1 Utama’s ONECARD terminals or 1 Utama’s 1PAY E-wallet on the mall’s mobile app for selected active ONECARD members.

Meanwhile, to ensure a safe work and shopping space for visitors and retail staff, 1 Utama has various SOPs and equipment in place such as AI-Thermal Scanners at entrances for non-invasive temperature monitoring, frequent daily building and facilities sanitisation, cleaning, misting and fogging with hospital grade disinfectants.

“We hope that both our holistic marketing and operational initiatives will help our tenants’ in our paths to business recovery,” Teo added.
