KUALA LUMPUR (June 25): Malaysia recorded its third straight day of single-digit new Covid-19 infections today, with four cases — all involving locals — bringing the total confirmed infections in the country to 8,600.

Of the four new cases reported today, three were imported. The single local transmission was detected through a Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) screening in Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Johor, according to health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Meanwhile, 40 more patients have recovered, pushing the total recoveries to 8,271 or 96.2% of overall cases.

This leaves 208 active cases in the country — a new low for the country following the 244 cases it sank to on June 24.

No new deaths were recorded, said Noor Hisham, so the death toll remained at 121 or 1.41% of overall cases.

Malaysia recorded six new cases yesterday, and three on Tuesday.
